Basic sciences i. e. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics play a vital role in Engineering, it works as foundation for Engineering Principles, understanding fundamental concepts and provide a solid foundation to design, develop, and optimize solutions to real-world problems. Engineers develop strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and analytical abilities to analyze, down to the roots of the complex systems, identify patterns, and make decisions. Innovation in Engineering can only be realized through fundamentals of Basic sciences. This enables the development of new technologies, manufacturing of innate and synthetic materials which are constantly in demand.
Mathematics is the tool to depict and visualize the Engineering processes, make them maneuverable & manageable through mathematical modeling and scaling with accuracy, make simulations possible and realize projects virtually before commissioning. Physics remains to be fundamental to understand the physical properties of material and energy in all forms. Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation and their offshoots like Mecha-tronics, robotics has remained central in Engineering advances.
Numerous practical applications in Engineering, from designing medical devices to developing of sustainable infrastructure require new materials. Issues related to climate change, energy efficiency, public health can be addressed by Environmental Science with a multidisciplinary approach. Environmental Science plays a crucial role by minimizing impact of pollution on environment and promote sustainability, Environmental assessment helps in developing strategies to mitigate the issues , and help create awareness in society to comply with environmental regulations and laws. Department facilitates audits such as environmental ,green and energy of the college.
Basic sciences facilitate collaboration across disciplines; integrate knowledge from multiple disciplines to tackle complex challenges. Chemistry provides a fundamental understanding of the properties and behavior of materials.
Humanities helps Engineers to learn soft skills like leadership and management, communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, emphasize the importance of teamwork, and empathy. Humanities take into consideration the ethical implications of Engineering projects and its impact on society. The department has well equipped laboratories, all the basic amenities and caters to almost 1200 students of all the years of Engineering curriculum.
Language labs improve students' communication skills, enabling them to convey complex ideas and technical information clearly for enhanced teamwork.
The department of Science and Humanities works with objectives stated above by conducting classes for the subjects- Physics. Chemistry, Mathematics, Communication skills, Entrepreneurship Development, Social Sciences , Engineering Economics, E- Commerce, etc with the help of twelve full time and four part time faculty with five supporting staff. Department takes responsibility of mentorship of fresh students and counseling, generates records of academic performances of students bridging the gap between parents and administration. The faculty not only teaches proficiently but also publishes research papers with good impact factors, they are aptly qualified to discharge their duties, they enthusiastically participate in various college activities including, NAAC assessments, ISO certifications, admission work & Induction programme for freshers.
