The department used to offer degree course B.E.(Electrical (Electronics & Power) Engineering) from 1983 till 2019-20.From year 2020-21, associated branch of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science is being introduced with approved intake of 60 seats to adequately represent the increasing opportunities in this emerging area.The departmentoffersP.G. course, M.E.(Digital Electronics) with intake of 9students.Presently 15 seats have been allocated for research scholars pursuing Ph.D. in the department.The programmeB.E.[ Electrical (Electronics and Power) Engineering] was introduced in 2012-13. Presently the department also offers an undergraduate course in Electrical engineering with an intake capacity of 30 students.
The programme B.E.(Electrical (Electronics & Power) Engineering) was accredited twice by the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi.The department is certified by ISO:2000 for its strict adherence to quality of technical education. It regularly conducts training programmes, workshops, and seminars for benefit of teaching, supporting staff and students. It has highly qualified, research oriented and experienced faculty with 5 Ph.D. holders, more than 260 research publications and 6 patents filed by faculty. Many of Ph.D. holders and research scholars have carried research in field of Artificial Intelligence and Neural Networks with applications ranging from speech recognition, through wall imaging, weather prediction and health diagnosis for heart and lung diseases.
The department has excellent infrastructure with 16 laboratories having equipment worth about Rs. 200 Lacs. It includes state-of-art facilities like Vector Network Analyzer, Mobile Handset Trainer, GSM trainer kit, TI-TIVA microcontroller kits, ARM LPC 2148 kits, LABVIEW software with DAQ hardware, Altera & Xilinx VLSI CPLD/FPGA kits, Texas Instruments DSP kits, MATLAB & its toolboxes, Fibre optical communication kits, Antenna laboratory, Microstrip system trainer, AC/DC motors and Generator-Motor sets, Simulation Models for power system protection, etc.
